Congratulations to the Glendora USD Employees of the Year for 2015-16!
Linda Fallon (4th grade teacher at Sellers) is your Teacher of the Year, and has been with GUSD molding elementary minds at both Williams and Sellers since 1992. Linda is a true professional, in every sense of the word, and goes above and beyond to provide her students and their families an extraordinary education.
Vickie Woolley (Extended Day Care Specialist II at La Fetra) is your Classified Employee of the Year, and has been assisting students on a daily basis at La Fetra since 1992. Vickie makes those special connections with kids, and is endeared by thousands of students and families that have had the pleasure of being part of her renowned Day Care program over the years.
Linda & Vickie are both great representatives for all of us here in GUSD!!!!!!
In honor of President's Day, Sellers Elementary School students welcome a special guest to lead them in the all school pledge of allegiance. Principal, Steve Bishop, introduced President Lincoln, surprising all in attendance. President Lincoln spoke to the students about the flag and the students even wished him a happy birthday. Mr. President was even up on pop culture and paused to take a group selfie with some District Office staff. All in all it was a great start to the school day!
Starting 2015, GUSD is sponsoring Free Technology Workshops to inspire and encourage students to explore, invent, and create using technology. Take advantage of this great opportunity for your children by registering for classes. Click for technology brochure
Sellers Extended Day Care Students participated in a walk-a-thon to donate money to the Glendora Community Conservancy. The students raised over one thousand dollars. A total of 31 trees were planted in the “Children’s Forest” on Colby Trail where the recent fire occurred. The California Conservation Core was on hand to assist the students. The largest tree was dedicated to Alison Giardinelli-Brunetta, daughter of GUSD employee Fran Giardinelli, who passed away from breast cancer in February.
The Preschool Tiny Tartans have been busy with fun spring activities. The annual Trike-a-Thon raising funds for St. Jude Research Hospital was huge success with all students participating. Parents enjoyed watching their students “do laps” with trikes, bikes, and scooters. The preschool students also colored eggs and baskets for the springtime egg hunt, which was enjoyed by all.
Sellers’ Kindergarten students prepare to embark on their first field trip to Tanaka Farms where they will learn where fruits and vegetables come from and how they grow.
On Wednesday, November 20, 2013 Ron Bennett, the CEO of School Services of California, a highly sought after speaker who advises school districts, legislators, and even governors regarding school finance, presented information about the new Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF) – The biggest change in school funding in 40 years and how it will impact the Glendora Unified School District. Parents, staff and all those present appreciated his easy to understand presentation with a touch of humor.
